Chevy Introduces the Cleanest Diesel Engine Ever
General Motors introduces the revolutionary 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel’s advanced 2.0L engine, which is bound to give an unprecedented mileage and is highly eco-friendly. The engine gives a scale of 700 highway miles on one tank. The six – speed automatic transmission engine hails from the Cruze powertrain engine.
The engine is empowered by ‘variable swirl’, which helps to catalyze the mixture procedure of fuel and air even in low speed. The 2.0L turbo diesel engine produces maximum torque even at low emission and noise levels. The mechanism is designed in a way that each cylinder has two independent intake ports, and one of them is controlled by a valve.
In the swirl mode, each valve determines the level of opening to create the mixture of fuel and air inside each cylinder respectively. This mechanism is followed by countless hours of monotonous work by GM’s engineering team; the time they spent in calibrating the actuator. It must be noted that all diesel engines have swirls, but it is the variable swirl that makes the Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel’s advanced 2.0L engine a class apart.
These factors combined resulted into a diesel engine that produces better mileage compared to any other hybrid and gasoline vehicle available in North American region. Chevy’s latest diesel engine also holds the distinction of becoming the cleanest engine ever produced by General Motors. This engine emits 90% less Nitrogen Oxide in contrast to all previous models, thus it is unarguably the cleanest diesel car on the road.
The car can go 0-60 in just 8.6 seconds and the engine is also equipped with an advanced overboost feature that can enhance torque to approximately 280 lb-ft for stronger speeding up on short bursts.
Chevy today has its presence in over 140 countries and an estimated 4.5 million units are sold per year.
