The development and completion work at the BMW Group plant at Leipzig is at its final stage and so is the launch date of BMW i8. It is said that the company will start delivering the cars from June 2014 starting from European markets and later to the rest of the world. The BMW Company is holding special events at various regions worldwide to build the interest of the customers while the orders for this car have been opened since autumn 2013. However the good news for the company is that the demand of the BMW i8 is already exceeding the planned production of the vehicle.

BMW i8 has a powertrain concept BMW eDrive in plug-in hybrid configuration. This model combines a 0–100 km/h sprint time of 4.4 seconds with an EU test cycle average fuel consumption of 2.1 litres per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 49 g per km.

The BMW i8 engineers have paid special attention on the low fuel economy as it has been proven by the tests as well. The BMW i8 is not only efficient is standard testing procedures but is a practical car with everyday fuel economy. The car can return the fuel consumption under 5 liters per 100 km around the town while in extra urban or motorway drive less than 7 liters per 100 km are achievable. While at higher speeds the consumption remains under 8 liters per 100 km. In other words, this i8 model works much better around 50 percent better than any of the other hybrid sports car models
World’s first production car with laser light
This car will achieve a status to be the world’s first car with innovative lighting technology. These latest laser lights are around 40 percent more energy efficient than the BMW’s standard LED headlights. The good thing is that the light produce is quite similar to daylight which means they are easy on the eyes.
