Powertrain and Performance

At the heart of the 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid is Integrated Motor Assist IMA System plus 1.5 liter engine and a small electric motor fitted between the engine and the transmission. The Powertrain of the hybrid Civic is able to generate 110 horsepower and 127 lb ft of torque. The fuel economy of the car is improved this year for a better driving experience. The only transmission available for the hybrid is a fuel economy maximizing CVT. The Fuel economy is 44 mpg city, 47 mpg highway and 45 mpg combined.

Honda offered its 2014 Civic Hybrids for sale now that comes with a price tag from $24,635 to $27,335.

Competitors

The new Honda Civic Hybrid 2014 has to compete against Toyota Prius C priced at $19,000 with EPA ratings of 53 mpg city and Ford C-Max hybrid that marks $25,000 as base price and fuel economy of 47 mpg highway. The C-Max has a hatchback style, but is pretty much like the Civic Hybrid.

Verdict

Honda’s Civic is one of the most selling names in the Sedan market, however, in 2012 it lost some of its appeal and power, but with the arrival of new 2014 Civic hybrid it seems that the car will once again gain its lost position. The competitive edge of the car is its increased fuel economy however, some competitors have better features that make it hard for the Civic hybrid to stand out in the crowd.
