Toyota Tops Vehicle Sales Charts in Australia
Toyota has once again leaded the yearly statistics of new vehicle sales in Australia. This is the ninth consecutive year, as Toyota Hilux continues to top the charts in Pickup 4×4 segment. This particular vehicle marked the sale of 29,344 units in 2013, which is 21.3% of the overall 4×4 sales figures. Hilux 4×4 is followed by Nissan Navara 4×4 with a trail of over 7,500 units.
With the above mentioned count, Hilux has created a new record of yearly sales in this particular segment, beating the one created by itself in the previous year. Toyota is not only crowned in the 4×4 section, but also in the overall new vehicle sales in Australia by selling 204,566 units during 2013. This is almost double of what Holden sold in 2013. The local automobile manufacturer stayed the second highest seller with a total of 112,059 vehicles.
The wide range of Toyota vehicles has dominated the sales in multiple segments. In this regard, Toyota Corolla achieved the top position in small car segment by selling a sum of 43,498 units, claiming 17.4% of the total sales in this area. On the other hand, medium car segment was topped by Toyota Camry with 24,860 units sold and 42.2% market share. Toyota 86 was noted as the most favorite sports car with 6,706 units sold and 34.4% market share. In the SUV Large and SUV Upper Large segments, Toyota’s Prado and Landcruiser Wagon witnessed the highest sales with 14,568 and 9,311 units sold, respectively. However, Toyota remained second best seller in light car and SUV medium segments, with Yaris and RA4, respectively.
