Audi to Start the Development of Q1
The Board of Management and the Works Council of Audi AG have revealed that the automobile manufacturer has decided to start the development of Q1, which will be an addition to Audi’s Q series, at its plant in Ingolstadt and the vehicle is likely to be launched in 2016.
Rupert Stadler, the Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, expressed that the upcoming car is a part of Audi’s popular SUV strategy and there is a strong likelihood that the Q1 will be a vehicle of the Q series. Stadler mentioned that the modular transverse engine concept will be used in the Audi Q1.
Apart from enhancing the Q series, the upcoming model will go a long way in the success of Audi in different markets around the world. As the popular automobile manufacturer looks to add to the tally of its amazing models through the Q1, it is widely believed that Audi will expand its range of models to 60 by the end of 2020. At the present moment, it has 49 models under its belt.
Currently, the Q series consists of Audi Q3, RS Q3, Q5, SQ5 and Q7. The Q5 is considered by a number of experts to be the best model of the Q series so far, as the manufacturer had already sold 194,430 cars of this model by the end of October, 2013, which is 17 percent more than the previous year. Taking into account the popularity of Q5, one can easily state that the number will increase in the coming months.
Since the market launch of Audi’s first SUV in 2006, it has sold more than 1.5 million vehicles of the Q series to customers all around the world. It remains to be seen if Q1 can outnumber the sales of Q5 or not.
