Cadillac Elmiraj Concept – Review
Cadillac took a big step forward towards the production of a large luxurious vehicle by introducing the most irresistible Elmiraj grand coupe concept.
The beauty was unveiled at the Pebble Beach, Calif and mesmerized the spectators at the Ann Arbor. The grand coupe has an uncanny resemblance to the 1967 Cadillac Eldorado, as it is a two door- four seat super luxury ride.
The first thing that catches the eye is the new and improved badge. The multi-colored emblem lacks the conventional heraldic Cadillac crest, while the crest also has been altered. Critics came up with mixed comments about the latest from Cadillac; some graded the design to be French, while others termed it as British, but most of them agreed it to be an American.
Elmiraj Grand Coupe is a true blend of art and science, and this car will act as scaffolding for the future generation of much more luxurious vehicles built on the philosophy of Cadillac’s A&S (art and science) design. There also happens to be a connotation behind the name El Miraje; it is an exotic place in the Mojave Desert that has attracted Hollywood directors and speed devils for over half a century.
The car has a pillarless hardtop and is powered by a 4.5-liter V-8 turbocharged engine. Having perfect power to weight ratio design, aerodynamics combined with the 121 inches wheelbase, this car is not just an eye candy, but is designed for optimum performance.
The car hones the traditional vertical lightning equipment and the braking system is state-of-the-art, as it is equipped with Heroic 22×9-inch aluminum wheels frame carbon-ceramic brake rotors and opposed piston brake calipers.
Elmiraj design is inspired by the 1967 Fleetwood Eldorado. GM’s executive director of advanced design, Clay Dean at the launch said that they are inspired by the 1967 Eldorado design, as back in the days it represented a new direction and stark style.
The most intriguing aspect is the rich and exquisite interior trim that comprises of hand carved Brazilian rosewood and camel colored leather. The gadgets are also equally impressive; these include a transparent analog speedometer and tachometer.

The special valet feature makes the seats surprisingly comfortable, and when the door is opened the front seat slides 10 inches forward, while the rear scoots 4 inches ahead to make the entry easier.
In a nutshell, Cadillac Elmiraj Grad Coupe is a perfect blend of the past and future technologies, and has set a precedent for General Motors to come up with more wondrous models.
